How Does A Contact Lens Work
Put in simple words, a contact lens is a transparent disc that is worn over the eye to correct vision. The lens rests comfortably on the eye due to the pressure exerted by the eyelid and the moisture in the eye that binds the lens and the eye. When you blink, your eyes release even more moisture that works as an adhesive.

A contact lens works in sync with the optics of the eye to provide you with flawless vision. Contact lenses are used to correct vision disorders so that you do not have problem viewing things. This corrects the vision problems. Those suffering from myopia are prescribed contact lenses that are thicker on the edges and thinner in the middle. On the other hand, people with farsightedness or hyperopia are prescribed lenses that are thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges.

In astigmatism, a person has an irregular shaped cornea. This causes the light to converge at different points in the eye leading to blurry vision. Here contact lenses are designed to give the cornea a proper shape so that the light rays can converge at a single focal point at the retina. The contact lenses work by converging the light rays at the retina and hence correct the vision.

Thus, contact lenses work to rectify different vision problem by enabling the light rays to converge at the retina. However, their functioning may vary from one vision problem to other.

Contact lenses work much better than spectacles. They offer clearer vision as compared to spectacles. Many a times, people wearing spectacles view distorted images. However, this is not the case with contact lenses. These lenses offer you a completely peripheral vision that enables you to view things clearly.

Lastly , word of advice, though contact lenses work perfectly to give you a clear vision, you need to take care of them if you want them to work better. Clean your lenses regularly with a proper cleansing solution, make sure that you remove them before you go to bed and store them in a cool and dry place.
