Soft contact lens take good care of one of
the most beautiful things you have, and of course the most complex. That
is why your contact lenses must precisely and individually match your
particular requirements. It is always important to choose the right
contact lenses for yourself. Whatever be your criteria, choosing the
right lenses will give you a comfortable, hassle free alternative to
glasses. Soft contact lenses are made from an oxygen permeable material,
making them very comfortable to wear. They are larger in size than their
rigid contact lens counterparts and cover the whole of the iris. Their
floppy structure allows them to fit the shape of the eye like a glove
and this makes them easy to get used to in the eye.
There are certain types of soflens which are grouped on the basis
of their time of use. They are-
1) Daily disposable soft contact
lenses- The soft daily contact lenses are designed to be worn once and
then thrown away. The prime advantage of this type of 'hassle free'
lenses is that they do not require disinfecting and contact lens
cleaning solutions since they are never re-used. You can save on your
contact lens case and contact lens cleaner. These lenses are a great
alternative for spectacle wearers who want to wear them occasionally-
they're ideal for sports or special occasions.
2) Monthly
disposable soft contact lenses- These monthly lenses are designed to be
worn during the day and then to be removed and disinfected each evening.
After one month they are thrown away and replaced with a fresh new pair.
3)
Annual soft contact lenses- These soft lenses last for up to a year.
Once removed, they need careful cleaning, disinfecting and storage. They
are available with a range of different materials, which aid oxygen
transmission and help to prevent contact lenses dry eyes.
Apart
from the above categories, there are also colored soft contact lenses.
These lenses are hip, fun, also quite practical. The colored contact
lenses come in four types- Visibility tint, Enhancement tint, Color tint
and Light-filtering tint. These colored contact lenses are designed for
athletes and sports fans.
Contact lenses have come a long way
lately, and offer some exciting options for the consumer. For people
with vision problems, contact lenses remain an effective, almost
invisible tool. The thin plastic lenses are fitted over the cornea of
the eye to correct vision problems such as nearsightedness,
farsightedness or astigmatism. These days, you can wear contact lenses
even if you have presbyopia and need bifocals.
While most people
choose soft contact lenses because of their benefits, there are also
some contact lens problems. Soft contact lenses easily absorb pollutants
like lotion or soap from your hands, which can irritate your eyes. Soft
contact lenses are also more fragile than hard contact lenses and can
rip or tear easily.
